Verona Carpenter Architects working with the Museum of Food and Drink to bring the Ebony Test Kitchen back to life

The Museum of Food and Drink won the Illinois Landmarks competition to become owner and steward of the incredible 1970’s Ebony Magazine Test Kitchen. We are proud to have played a role in the win, advising on the restoration strategy and costs. The kitchen was part of the Johnson Publishing Company building in Chicago, by African-American architect John W. Moutoussamy with interiors by William Raiser and Arthur Elrod. MoFAD will restore and exhibit the kitchen at its upcoming show “African / American: Making the Nation’s Table.” Read more about the project here.
