School of American Ballet REnovation and Expansion

LOCATION: New York, NY
Area: 7,000 sf
STATUS: opened 2025

We designed the expansion of the School of American Ballet, the country's preeminent ballet academy, at Lincoln Center. The project helps SAB meet their mission of supporting their student-artists physically, mentally, and emotionally by providing strength+conditioning and Pilates studios, physical therapy, and counseling spaces alongside lounges and academic study rooms. VCA's approach mirrors the school's goal of "lifting up" students by designing a sensory environment that feels light, uplifting, and truly student-focused. In addition to the complete design of the sixth floor our work includes a new travertine and bronze feature stair to link the school spaces.
