PRINCETON UNIVERSITY PROSPECT HOUSE REnovation and Expansion
LOCATION: PRINCETON, NJ
AREA: 24, 800 SF
STATUS: OPENED FALL 2024
Our complete renovation of this 1849 mansion creates vibrant and welcoming spaces for events, dining, and faculty and staff gatherings. We coordinated the work of an extensive consultant team to create state-of-the-art catering and conferencing capabilities within a designated National Historic Landmark, including a new outdoor extension of the kitchen that supports the neighboring Princeton Art Museum.
Our design features significant upgrades to accessibility, including a newly accessible and transparent front entrance reached via gently sloped, landscaped, and illuminated ramps. We also raised the main terrace to provide equitable access to outdoor spaces from the house for the first time. In addition to the complete architectural renovation of the building, including infrastructure, our scope includes all new finishes and furniture that creates a range of sensory experiences so that guests can find the spaces that work for them. We also worked with the university to incorporate more widely representative artwork, as well as new signage and wayfinding for better navigation. The project won a 2025 NYCxDesign award from Interior Design magazine, and was a finalist in the 19th Annual Best of Year Awards.
